Home Keys - Ellis Island

During a trip to the United States, I had the opportunity to visit the Ellis Island Museum and the Statue of Liberty. Before entering the iron structure and the museum, visitors are asked to leave their belongings in lockers. 

The visit to the Ellis Island museum and the stories told by the new arrivals really touched me. 

 

I decided to film and record the sound of the empty lockers, the keys rattling in the wind... to put into perspective my own experience of expatriation in Germany and those of immigrants arriving in the United States.
